A group of parents experiencing the effects of Parental Alienation met June 4, 2011, and decided to form an organization dealing with then nationally unrecognized issue of Parental Alienation.

Association Against Parental Alienation (APTA) was officially created September 4, 2011, and registered December 8, 2011.

Association organized the first conference regarding Parental Alienation December 10, 2011: “Parental Alienation Syndrome in Lithuania and it’s legal and psychological aspects” ("Tėvų atstūmimo sindromas Lietuvoje ir jo teisiniai ir psichologiniai aspektai")

The elected head of the Association is Kęstutis Griciūnas.
